YANAOMAMI EXPEDITION:

15 days, 14 nights

DAY 1:

At 8 am, departure from Manaus , In the way we stop for a quick snack and  with a stop for lunch or not, in this case it would be something during the navigation, the navigation is all day until the Moura community to spend the night, which will be in hammocks with mosquito nets;

DAY 2:

After breakfast in the Moura community, we will sail again all day with a stop for lunch. Perhaps in Barcelos or again on the boat during the navigation and above Barcelos we will spend the night in a riverside house;

DAY 3:

After breakfast we will sail again, we will pass the Municipality of Santa Isabel, have lunch during the journey and stop to spend the night in some community upriver, again sailing all day;

DAY 4:

After breakfast we will sail until the entrance of the Caburis River, where we will meet the Yanomami Indians. Then we will sail again and spend the night near a waterfall called Cachoeira do Carangueijo;

DAY 5:

After breakfast we will pull our boats over the rocks and sail all day again together with the Yanomami Indians and spend the night in one of their communities called Aiari;

DAY 6 – 10:

Dawn within the Yanomami indigenous community, breakfast and there we will do some activities with them, which include hiking in the jungle, Zagaia fishing at night, which is a trident harpoon, fishing with long lines, getting to know their plantations and cultures and experiencing local life, their daily lives. You will also be able to participate in one of the most common rituals among the Yanomami, which is performed only by the leaders, which is the Paricá ritual, which is performed almost every day. If you want to participate, you are also welcome.

We will also visit a small group of Yanomami, another community, called Mafe, which is known to one of the leaders of the Aiari community. You will be able to interact with them, talk, ask questions, because they do not do many things. There is not much to do.

Between the two Yanomami communities, we will explore for five days, 3 days 3 nights with the Aiari and 2 days 1 night With the MAFE, and at the site, you will NOT be allowed to wear rings, gold chains, watches or anything like that. They ask a lot about cameras. You have to ask if you can take pictures, and then you can after they authorize you, because there are some who don’t like it. Remember that these groups are not tourist communities. We only take them once or twice a year, where only we have access. And for safety, the leader will always be with us. Accommodations are always in mosquito nets. Bring mosquito repellent and sunscreen. ALWAYS WEAR LONG PANTS AND A LONG-SLEEVED SHIRT, because there are a lot of PIUM, a type of insect that leaves blood marks. Also bring gifts. Gifts for the children, for the women, for the elderly, for the men. Cheap things, they like those things.

DAY 11 – 15:

On this day, we will have a hearty breakfast and go down the Caburi River with the Yanomami Indians, until we reach the Rio Negro. Then we will say goodbye and head back to Manaus. We will have five days sailing and with stops to explore other regions, with fishing, trails, and night tours. We will pass through Santa Isabel, Barcelos, Moraes and then Manaus.
